Searching the Web with the Best Results

The Internet has almost become the eighth wonder of the world. With such a vast amount of information available, the search engines certainly have their work cut out for them. In fact, searchers do, too! Combing the Web to find exactly what you're looking for has become almost as much art as it is science. Knowing the difference between web directories and web browsers is a starting point to finding what you need online. Web directories are categorical and/or alphabetical in nature. That is to say, the sites in web directories are listed first by category then by order of the alphabet. They are not listed by keywords or keyphrases. Web directories are best used when you are looking for a generalized or niche-specialist list of resources.

Search engines function with regard to the search terms, which are typed into the engine. The more specific you can be with your query, the more relevant results you are likely to get from the search engines. Typing in "marketing" will return results for marketing plan, marketing seminar, marketing books, marketing consultants and literally a million other variations. However, if the term "marketing consultant in Manhattan New York" is typed in, your chances of finding exactly what you're looking for dramatically increase.
