Sarkozy throws down gauntlet to Poland over EU treaty

French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Saturday urged his Polish counterpart to ratify the European Union's Lisbon Treaty, despite Ireland's rejection, as France seeks to resolve the first crisis of its EU presidency.
