Brazil is mostly tropical, but temperate in the south. Surrounding areas, such as Columbia, Venezuela and Bolivia to the north and Chile and central Argentina to the south are hot and dry. The southern tip of South America gets cold winters due to the polar temperatures of Antarctica.
